MEDIUM

River jade

A river has worked this stone for ages. The skin of it is smooth as an infant's. Inside, it is still rough. It arrives in an unmarked parcel. The slip of paper says only: Guard this well. Its warmth follows the baby's mood. After return-to-sense, the jade is gone. The door no longer needs a key.

At the end of the season a mass of black meteoric iron arrives, with the same six words. That is the next road, not this season's answer.
